From the producers of History Channel’s runaway hits: Last Stand of the 300 and Journey to 10,000 B.C., comes a new live-action series: Battles B.C. This all new 8-part series for History Channel uses computer graphics and live-action stunts to recreate some of the most brutal and exciting battles of ancient history. From Hannibal and the Romans to David’s rise to King of Israel, this series will keep audiences riveted to the screen. The series is scheduled to begin in September.

Executive Producers David Padrusch and Gabriel Gornell have tapped producer/writer John Schwally to join the writing team for Battles B.C. Schwally will scribe the episode for King David and the rise of the Israelite Empire - a bloody tale of betrayal, lust, conquest, and ruthless brutality. Four In Hand is the production company.

Daz will be playing the part of Kind Porus. King Porus (also Rai Por) was the King of Paurava. King Porus was said to be “5 cubits tall”, either the implausible 2.3 m (7½ ft) assuming an 18-inch cubit, or the more likely 1.8 m (6 ft) if a 14-inch Macedonian cubit was meant. Either height would be unusually tall for the period.

King Porus fought the Battle of the Hydaspes River with Alexander in 326 BC. After fierce fighting and very heavy casualties on both sides, he was defeated by Alexander in a Pyrrhic victory. The battle is often considered to be Alexander’s hardest fought battle, so hard that it caused his army to mutiny against him afterwards.

The kingdom of Paurava of King Porus was situated in the part of Punjab which is now part of modern day Pakistan (see Pakistani Punjab).
